If you thought Bangkok could be a crazy place at times, then you probably haven't seen anything like the infamous Pattaya. Located just off the coast of Bangkok, Pattaya is a seaside city known for its nightlife that rivals any city in the world. From big nightclubs to retro bars, beach parties to cabaret shows, there's something for everyone in Pattaya, and here's our guide to nightlife in this vibrant city.
Pattaya Walking Street
Just like Bangkok's Khao San Road, Pattaya's revelers are undoubtedly its walking streets. The road is closed to vehicles from 6pm, but a gathering of locals and tourists from all over the world, mingling together trying to have a night they will never forget, and probably won't.
Under neon lighting and about a kilometer in length, most of the businesses lining the street are bars, clubs or restaurants, which means you're sure to find an atmosphere that suits you. Some bars will no doubt have exotic dancers waiting to lure you into a conversation, but there are plenty of places to leave you alone — or, at least, stay alone in Pattaya. Blue Sky III is a popular bar with bands playing rock classics that you can enjoy without worrying about being harassed by others. Pattaya Beer Garden is located on the edge of the walking street, on the pier, with views of the sea and beach. Drinks are cheap and there's a muay thai boxing ring in the middle, where fighters perform for patrons, and if they're brave enough, they can play themselves.
Pattaya nightclub
As you would expect, Pattaya also has great nightclubs to dance the night away. One such club is 808. Located on the pedestrian street, 808 plays the biggest house music, which includes a dance floor, and enjoy some of the best laser effects in the city. The bar in the center is convenient for guests to enjoy drinks, many of which are included in special offers and promotions, and admission is free.
Another popular club is Mixx Discotheque. Despite the upscale interior, it's still perfectly acceptable to let your hair down and break some serious shape, which can be played in two different rooms, one playing Hip Hop and RnB, the other spinning house records. Loved by locals and tourists alike, Mixx provides podiums for those looking to show off their moves, and comfortable seating for those who may need a break before they start shuffling again.
A third bar worth mentioning is Club Insomnia. Perhaps the most famous bar in Pattaya and certainly one of the busiest, Club Insomnia has great DJs, great lighting and nice people. Mix those half-price drinks with your booze from 10am to 12am and you really can't go wrong.
Hilton's Horizon Rooftop Bar is the perfect choice for a more complete experience of the city's charm. With 360-degree views of Pattaya and expansive ocean views from the 34th floor, it's a little more expensive than drinking at a beer bar, but for that class of class, it's worth it. From the comfy sofa, you can watch the sunset by the sea and witness the vitality of Pattaya. You're better off leaving the single bed and slippers in the back, mind - it's more refined here and has a great dining room from which you can also enjoy the view.
Another interesting alternative to the pedestrian street is the Alcazar Cabaret Show. Considered the best of its kind in Pattaya - by no means an easy task in the competition - it's a 400-actor - powerful performance that can be enjoyed in a theater with more than 1,000 seats. You'll be amazed by the ladies singing, dancing and bracing their stuff on stage for a fun evening enjoying some of the often misunderstood Thai culture at home.
Pattaya Beach
Given that Pattaya is a beach city, beach parties cannot but be mentioned. Enjoy plenty of water sports at Pattaya Beach and Jomtien Beach, party atmosphere at night, you'll find thousands of revellers partying on the beach, and those scattered from the walking streets and enjoying beachfront hotels . The Hard Rock Hotel has an oceanfront bar, it's not just a great bar and restaurant, it has great music, its pool parties are so much fun, and foam parties are frequent, it's a great way to chill And let like-minded travelers relax.
